Opus Land secure two shortlistings for the Insider West Midlands Property Awards

Oct 6, 2021

The team at Opus Land is delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted for two awards at the Insider West Midlands Property Awards; Commercial Developer of the Year and Commercial Development of the Year!

As a well-established developer and investor operating in and around the Midlands and the South-West for the past 20 years, Opus Land has an impressive track record, which certainly helped with their nomination for Commercial Developer of the Year.

Between July 2020 and July 2021, Opus Land transacted on some of the biggest and most significant industrial/logistics and office deals in the region with a combined GDV of in excess of £100m. They are also on site for, and completed the construction of over 670,000 sq ft of new space across four sites over 25 acres of land, and achieved planning for 2.9million sq ft of accommodation across 6 sites.

One of their recent achievements, which has been shortlisted for the Commercial Development of the Year title, is Xpanse 120, Olbury. This scheme was funded by Fiera Real Estate UK and is a prime example of the type of quality projects the pair undertake.

In 2019, Opus Land and Fiera Real Estate acquired a rare site of scale in the West Midlands, comprising  6.35 acres in an established industrial location, just off Junction 2 of the M5. Only a few months after acquisition, Opus Land and Fiera Real Estate were awarded planning permission and works began on-site shortly after, following a full remediation of the site.

The 122,000 sq ft, BREEAM Very Good unit, positioned in a prime location for warehouse logistics and manufacturing of all industries, was designed to benefit from 10% office content at first and second floors, 125 parking spaces, lorry parking and an oversized and secure yard.

By March 2021, the high-spec Xpanse 120 had been fully let and sold – a huge testament to the quality of the scheme.

As with all of Fiera Real Estate and Opus Land’s projects, a high level of sustainability was incorporated into the design of scheme. Looking at ways to increase energy efficiency, the scheme’s plans included features such as electric car charging points and waste segregation facilities, and in order to promote health and wellbeing among future employees, the designs also had provision for covered cycle storage.

We have our fingers crossed that this great scheme, as well as the many other great quality schemes Opus Land are undertaking, will be enough to secure us a win at the Insider West Midlands Property Awards.

Well done to all of the other finalists!
